Here at TLN we’ve been trialling linking through cricket in partnership with Yorkshire County Cricket Foundation. Students from Carlton Bolling College linked with students from Beckfoot Upper Heaton to look at how sport can help shape a sense of identity and to learn some new skills from Nasa Hussein, a Yorkshire Cricket community coach. The first session was classroom based and Nasa spoke about how playing cricket broadened his horizons and opened doors for him. Beckfoot Upper Heaton students then visited Carlton Bolling and took part in mixed team activities. Cricket was a particularly popular focus and the sport has a far-reaching popularity across the world that is unrivalled by most other sports.
