There’s lots of research available which shows us how important kindness is – it can help keep our hearts healthy and increases feelings of happiness. We also know how it makes us feel, a small act of kindness can make a real difference to our day.
When we bring children together from different schools to meet during their linking year we want them all to have a positive experience but we know that meeting new people for the first time can be tricky. Children haven’t always had the opportunity to think about how they can be kind to each other and what things might help someone else feel more at ease.
We think kindness is a skill we can practice if we want to get better at it and we know that practice makes perfect!
We’ve created a calendar which we think will work well in classrooms as a visual reminder to keep being kind. We’ve added some of our ideas but there’s plenty of space for children to add their own. We think it would be great to use this calendar in the days and weeks leading up to a linking visit and then seeing if the children are able to find an opportunity to try one small act of kindness out during the day.
We’ll be adding the calendar to the website on the Resources area very soon – keep your eyes peeled!
What small acts of kindness do you do to make a difference?
