The Leicester Schools Linking Programme is currently working with neutral venues and other organisations, to produce video tours and activities which can be experienced by both classes in a linking pair, so that subsequent work can then be shared and discussed. We love this idea of finding new ways to connect!
Since its inception in 2018, The Leicester Schools Linking Project, locally owned and led by the St Philip’s Centre, has given students the opportunity to explore and celebrate their own identities and the identities of their peers in different schools across the city and the county. During 2019/20 34 classes were engaged in the programme, linking over 1,000 students. The project works towards breaking down barriers and challenge misconceptions, through carefully planned activities and opportunities for dialogue. In 2018 the Leicester Linking Programme’s work was highlighted by the local BBC News; take a look at their video.
Sadly, due to the Covid-19 shutdown in March, none of the keenly awaited trips to each other’s schools could take place; but they have kept in touch virtually as much as possible and are all looking forward to renewing these links next year. To keep everyone connected, Leicester Linking collaborated to produce this short video which reflects the great team spirt of all the schools involved here in Leicester. https://www.facebook.com/100011977564047/videos/835139043562007/
