A New Schools Linking Record Broken!

This year, over 4000 children from across England and Wales, joined in one of the live lessons during Schools Linking Celebration Week. This smashed all previous records! Whilst on the call, they shared their highlights of being involved in Schools Linking. There were so many! These included visiting each other’s schools, meeting up at local museums and connecting over a video call.

When asked what piece of Social Action they had chosen in order to make a positive difference to their local community, again there were lots of fantastic examples shared in the chat. Some had donated items to their local food bank, others had decorated positive messages on pebbles to place around their local park and some had visited their local care home.

The key question we are all thinking hard about at the moment is, ‘how do we all live well together?’ Jayneen Saunders, author of ‘Be the Difference,’ shared her answer to this question during the lesson, but then challenged the children to think of their own ideas. The answers on the chat came thick and fast! ‘Treating others the way you want to be treated,’ ‘Listen to others,’ and, ‘Show kindness and respect to everyone,’ were just some of the answers.

Schools Linking Celebration Week, which takes place in June each year, gives children the opportunity to reflect and celebrate all they have achieved during their Schools Linking journey. They are also able to connect with other classrooms across the country via our online live lessons. SLCW helps increase awareness in each local area and in doing so creates ripple effects of the impact into families and communities.

Seeing and hearing from so many children involved in Schools Linking was really inspiring and a source of much hope. With these children in charge, the future is looking bright!
