Family Engagement

We believe that engaging families in their child’s experience of the Schools Linking  journey is very valuable, as it  can make a big difference to the impact of the programme on children (News item on family engagement).

Engaging families could be as simple as sending letters and activities home, inviting families to share a recipe, a game, a story from their family history, learn some sign language with their child, enjoy watching the online theatre play or a poem or book used by their children in the programme.  Schools will have many other creative ideas to engage their families. Local schools linking programmes find ways to connect schools and communities together sharing ideas about identity, diversity, community and equality.

We’ve got lots of resources on this page you can download and use, and also on the new home learning resources page.

Commissioned by TLN, Rochdale Council and the Tudor Trust and created by M6 Theatre Company, this lovely online play has been an uplifting piece of theatre to share and work from . Click here to see the full version of the 15 minute film When we Started Singing

The play tells the story of Mr Popple who  feels lonely during lockdown and finds a way to connect with the neighbours in his street. A lovely and uplifting story for 2020.   Click on this link to view the trailer.

Here are five  Sign Supported English video clips that Leanne has created for us to ccompany all our lessons this year to teach children relevant signs that connect to the virtual linking programme.
