Schools Linking Celebration Week – a great success!

Our 4th annual Schools Linking Celebration Week which took place in June was a great success. All across the country schools have been reflecting on their linking year, celebrating connections made and saying good-byes to their partners.

Many classes used this time to visit or host their link class and these days filled with fun and joy ended the year with a bang!

‘Schools Linking makes you braver.’ 

This was one of the many answers our linking children gave to our key question, ‘How do we all live well together?’ whilst joining in the live online sessions on offer during the week. Over 3500 primary school children from across England joined together in these sessions. They shared highlights of their schools linking year with one another, been inspired by the author of ‘Be the difference’,  Jayneen Saunders and offered their own suggestions for how we can all play a part in creating a kinder, more cohesive society. Seeing so many of those taking part in schools linking together on screen helps children realise that they are part of a large – and growing – national Schools Linking community which cares just as much as they do about the world in which we live.

Groups of young carers from across the Manchester City District gathered together at HOME to celebrate their Schools Linking achievements this year. Over the course of this year, 13 schools have taken part in this schools linking programme connecting 191 young people through a series of workshops. They have taken part in collaborative art activities, debates and games. Through these opportunities the young carers have been able to connect with others from Manchester.

The teachers involved are keen to continue the links next year so that their young carer groups can continue to build their confidence with meeting new people and strengthen the relationships they have established.
