Creative Practitioner Training for Intergenerational Play: Bradford 2025

On Friday, we were delighted to bring together a group of passionate, talented creative practitioners who are working with us on our ‘Intergenerational Play’ project with Bradford 2025.

The project will bring together children in primary schools with older people in care homes across the district. Through multisensory, creative play – whether it’s arts, games, music or storytelling – the project aims to build positive connections which foster understanding between generations, empathy and a deeper sense of community.

The creative practitioner training took place at The Avenue Nursing Home in Clayton where practitioners came together for the first time to learn, share ideas and prepare for the exciting project ahead. We considered what ‘play’ means to everyone, exploring thoughts such as:

‘Play has no pressure to be ‘right’’,

‘Children give adults permission to play’ and

‘Play is universal’.

And of course, the training was full of play opportunities, laughter and fun!

We are so excited to be starting this project with schools, care homes and creative practitioners in January 2025. Look out for further updates!
