Listening to the Voices that Matter the Most

Over the course of this year local facilitators from across the country have been listening to the experiences, reflections and ideas of the pupils who have been part of Schools Linking. Our newly developed Pupil Advisory Groups have been capturing the voices that matter the most this year; the children and young people who have engaged in our Schools Linking programmes. It’s been wonderful to learn from them about the impact of the work and how it could be even better in the future.

Representatives from Calderdale primary schools came together to share their Schools Linking experiences, reflect on what they have learnt and consider the importance of the opportunities to meet and connect with others. One child reflected,

 “It has been brilliant to have the opportunity to get to know new people and to make new friends.   I feel that my confidence has improved so much which will help me considerably when I go on to Secondary School.”

The first Leicester Online Pupil Advisory Group took place during a joyful video call with a group of Schools Linking pupils. Hearing the memories from the children and what they had enjoyed was heart-warming and their suggestions for improvements were extremely helpful.

In Bradford, we’ve worked with pupils to try out some new games for us and they enjoyed evaluating whether they were fun to play and whether they thought they’d be games that would help you get to know someone new – such important feedback for everyone involved in our work!

We’re looking forward to seeing the development of this aspect of our work over the coming years.
